Role Overview
Senga is a logistics software and services company catering to businesses shipping in Africa. Our goal is to simplify and ease the supply chain and logistics experience for the businesses that we serve, from the movement of goods to the software tools used to manage the workflows that help our customers get products to their customers.
This is a highly demanding and process-oriented role requiring individual smarts and precision in the execution of tasks. The effect of your inputs in this role will be immediate and direct. We are a young, agile company trying and testing new things, which means our environment is ambitious and unpredictable. We expect each Senga member to be a key contributor to the company and to persistently aim for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with customers and transporters.
- Operations Management: Achieve high customer service and proper transporter management; manage customer transactions including trips and after-sale service.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate and oversee the shipment of goods from shippers to customers; communicate with shippers, transporters, and customers to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Optimization: Optimise transportation routes to minimise costs and maximise efficiency.
- Communication: Communicate effectively and efficiently with customers, transporters, and team members.
- Process Improvement: Implement process improvements to enhance operations; identify and fix operational issues as they arise.
- Administrative Support: Address general customer requests and maintain exemplary operational records.
Qualifications and Requirements
- University degree level education with up to 2 years’ post-university work experience (start-up experience is a plus).
- At least 2 years of work experience post-graduation is a must.
- High degree of professionalism and extreme attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good mathematical skills and logistics handling coordination.
- Good administrative and organisation skills with strong forward planning.
- High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong preference for candidates who have worked in service and hospitality industries.
- Proven longevity of service in past roles and transferable experience.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to withstand pressure and to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Intermittent travel is required.
