The Crane Operator is responsible for operating overhead cranes to support production, dispatch, and maintenance activities while ensuring safe and efficient material handling. This role involves maintaining high safety standards, conducting daily equipment inspections, and assisting technical teams during production recoveries and start-ups.
Key Responsibilities
Crane Operation: Operate cranes in accordance with production, dispatch, and maintenance requirements.
Inspections: Perform daily crane inspections and record observations using the inspection checklist.
Safety Management: Ensure safe handling of loads to prevent injury to personnel or damage to materials and equipment.
Workspace Maintenance: Maintain safe and clean working conditions in the work area and adhere to 6S standards.
Material Protection: Ensure coil lifting C-hooks are secured with felt pads to prevent damage to coil edges.
Fault Reporting: Report crane faults or irregularities to Production Engineers for corrective action.
Technical Support: Support maintenance teams in troubleshooting crane-related issues and participate in strip breakage recovery and production line start-ups.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Craft Certificate from a recognized institution.
Experience: At least 1 year of general work experience.
Specific Experience: Minimum 6 months’ experience in a similar role, preferably in manufacturing or engineering.
Additional Assets: Training in a basic engineering trade or computer knowledge is an added advantage.
