Coxswain II - Mooring Assistant

This role involves supporting marine operations by assisting in the safe and timely mooring, shifting, and hauling of vessels, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and performance targets.

Remuneration (Kshs.)

The compensation package for this position includes:

• Basic Salary: 76,156.00 - 108,767.00
• House Allowance: 32,750.00
• Motor Transport Allowance: 17,000.00

Job Specifications (Responsibilities)

• Assist the safe mooring gang to avoid delays, injuries, and accidents/incidents in line with the provisions of the Safety Management System and set performance targets.
• Facilitate safe mooring of all vessels in a safe and timely way, aiming to avoid marine delays, in line with the provision of International Safety Management (ISM) Code and set performance targets.
• Ensure the availability of safe mooring tools/equipment for mooring gangs and confirm their proper use for safe operations and avoidance of marine delays.
• Supervise the mooring gang for timely execution of shifting/Hauling of ships as planned.
• Facilitate the safe shifting/Hauling of ships in a safe and timely manner.
• Coordinate with the pilot on board the vessel to ensure that the vessel is berthed in the planned position.
• Ensure all statutory plans and schedules for Mooring Operations, ISM Code, and Harbor laws are used from time to time.

Person Specifications (Qualifications and Experience)

• KCSE C+ (plus) or its equivalent.
• Three (3) years' experience as Sailor I or in a relevant field.
• Must be a holder of Coxswain II craft/Master Class 3.
• Fulfill the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution (on Leadership and Integrity).
