This Control Tower role is crucial for ensuring efficient and timely service delivery within the logistics operations in Nairobi. This position focuses heavily on monitoring fleet movement, managing stock reports, maintaining site compliance, and coordinating various cross-functional activities to adhere strictly to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and manage exceptions in real-time.
Mission Description
The Control Tower personnel will be responsible for the following duties:
- Service Delivery: Ensure service delivery by chasing local teams to ensure that cargo is delivered in line with SLA.
- Fleet Monitoring: Monitor fleet movement in and out of the site, ensuring their Turn Around Time (TAT) data is accurately recorded, analyzed, and reports are shared accordingly.
- Stock Management: Review all stock management reports and ensure alignment with the financial position.
- Site Compliance: Oversee and offer guidance to yard marshals to ensure compliance with set site standards (safety and security).
- Coordination and Flow: Facilitate cross-functional coordination to maintain service levels. Monitor and report yard marshals' Flow system operations to ensure accuracy in data capturing.
- Traffic Management: Call in trucks using the Flow system (into the site and to respective offloading and loading areas) while balancing and strictly observing set capacities across the site to avoid traffic congestion.
- Incident and Exception Management: Perform exception management, ensuring all deviations are captured, escalated when needed, and closed within SLA. Escalate all incidents and violations up the chain of command in real-time.
- Data and Reporting: Be tasked with data entry as directed. Update records and timely share all the required reports accordingly as directed.
- Communication: Communicate directly with carriers, suppliers, and partners to confirm status, request updates, and drive quick issue resolution. Provide status updates to customers or internal teams, ensuring transparency and timely communication.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (planning, transport, warehouse, procurement, customer service) and external partners to resolve issues.
- Office Support: Assist in office management and organization procedures.
Profile and Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in operations, logistics, planning, or supply chain control tower environments.
