Role Overview
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is seeking a Content Development and Communications Intern to support the APRA (Accelerating Renewable Energy Deployment) Implementation Office. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to develop practical skills and gain professional experience within an international development and renewable energy context by directly contributing to the APRA Implementation Office's high-impact communications efforts.
Responsibilities
Content Development and Research
Assist in the development, production, and maintenance of the APRA information pack.
Support the gathering and synthesizing of updates and highlights.
Contribute to the drafting and editing of APRA newsletters, briefing notes, talking points, and powerpoint presentations.
Conduct research to identify opportunities for audience growth, cross-promotion, and partnership outreach to expand APRA’s network.
Digital Communications and Media Support
Support the creation and curation of multi-media content (graphics, posts, videos) for social media platforms to promote APRA’s work and impact.
Support the design and visual communications process, including graphic concepts and overseeing the production/printing of publications.
Support the development and implementation of the social media presence for the Implementation Office.
Internal Communications
Assist in the development of content for internal platforms to ensure UNOPS staff are informed about APRA key updates, events, and activities.
Event Planning and Logistic Support
Support the organization, logistics, and delivery of APRA events including conferences, workshops, webinars, and meetings.
Assist in preparing event materials, invitations, and promotional content.
Learning Opportunities
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to develop practical skills and gain professional experience within an international development and renewable energy context. The intern will receive hands-on experience in high-impact communications by directly contributing to the APRA Implementation Office. Specifically, the intern will:
Master the creation, drafting, editing, and production of diverse content (e.g., newsletters, briefing notes, presentations) for various digital and print platforms.
Gain practical digital media expertise by implementing digital communication strategies, curating, creating, and managing multi-media content (graphics, posts, videos) for social media, and supporting the growth of the Implementation Office's online presence.
Develop event management and logistics skills through planning, organization, and technical coordination of events, including conferences, workshops, and webinars.
Strengthen partnership outreach capabilities by identifying actionable opportunities for audience growth, cross-promotion, and expanding APRA's strategic network and visibility.
Gain critical understanding of the operational landscape of international partnerships focused on accelerating renewable energy deployment, energy access, and green industrialization in Africa.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualification: BA/BSc/HND in a relevant field.
