The Community Outreach Officer role at CIC Microinsurance is crucial for driving business growth within the assigned regions and sectors in Thika. This position focuses on generating new business, engaging local communities and institutions, and effectively promoting Microinsurance products. It involves core activities such as lead generation, relationship management, client education, and ensuring efficient service delivery in collaboration with internal teams. This role offers an attractive performance-based incentive structure and override commissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: Identify and recruit new clients and intermediaries (including cooperatives, Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), registered groups, and bancassurance partners). This also involves reactivating dormant accounts and expanding CIC’s outreach channels.
- Client & Partner Engagement: Conduct community sensitization events, deliver product presentations, and organize training sessions for clients and intermediaries to drive awareness and product uptake.
- Sales Support & Administration: Prepare necessary proposals and quotations, manage follow-ups on leads, track sales pipelines, and collaborate effectively with underwriting and customer service teams to ensure smooth client onboarding.
- Market Intelligence: Gather and share valuable insights on prevailing market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to support the continuous improvement and development of products.
- Target Achievement: Consistently strive to achieve individual and team sales targets while rigorously upholding CIC’s brand values, ensuring high customer satisfaction, and maintaining policy persistency.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Minimum requirement is a Diploma in a business-related field. A Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable.
- Professional Certification: Professional qualifications in Insurance (such as COP/ECOP/Diploma in Insurance – AIIK/CII/LOMA) are considered a significant advantage.
- Skills: Demonstrated excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Abilities: Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience: Proven experience in community engagement, sales, or field mobilization will be an advantage.
- Age: Must be 25 years of age and above.
