Job Description
The Commis Chef supports the kitchen brigade by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting in cooking under the supervision of more experienced chefs.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and presentation of food items according to recipes and standards.
Follow instructions from senior chefs to ensure efficient food production.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, tools, and storage areas.
Ensure all food preparation and handling meets hygiene and safety standards.
Support in receiving and properly storing kitchen supplies and ingredients.
Minimize waste through proper portion control and usage of ingredients.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks as needed.
Contribute to a positive team environment with effective communication and teamwork.
Qualifications and Requirements
Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field is an added advantage.
1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen.
Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and culinary techniques.
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Strong sense of hygiene and attention to detail.
