Role Overview
Zetech University is seeking a Coach for Sports Management specifically to oversee the Women’s Basketball Team. The primary objective of this role is to plan, organise, and lead all team activities, including training, player development, and competition in university leagues and championships. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a culture of sportsmanship, discipline, and academic excellence among student-athletes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Training & Development: Plan and conduct regular basketball training sessions. Develop players’ technical, tactical, and physical skills through structured training programs designed to enhance both individual and team performance.
Competition Management: Prepare the team for university leagues, Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) League, tournaments, and championships. This includes selecting team line-ups, developing game strategies, and coaching the team during active matches.
Recruitment: Identify and scout talented players within the university and participate in trials and selection processes for new team members.
Student-Athlete Support: Monitor the academic progress and overall well-being of student-athletes. Promote a high standard of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Administration: Coordinate training schedules with the university sports office and prepare detailed reports on team performance and activities.
Compliance: Ensure all players adhere to university regulations and relevant basketball federation rules.
Qualifications and Experience
Must possess a Coaching Level 2 Certificate.
A minimum of 2-3 years of coaching experience in basketball is preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of basketball rules and modern coaching techniques.
Strong communication and team management abilities.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop student-athletes.
Excellent organisational and planning skills.
