Job Description
The Chief Tourism Officer is responsible for spearheading tourism development and hospitality management within Embu County. The role involves formulating and implementing strategic policies to promote the county as a premier destination, managing local tourism assets, and ensuring high standards in hospitality services. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the local economy through sustainable tourism practices and project management.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement county tourism policies and strategic plans.
Oversee the identification, development, and promotion of local tourism sites and attractions.
Coordinate and monitor hospitality and institutional management standards within the county.
Promote eco-tourism and other sustainable travel initiatives to preserve the county's heritage.
Manage departmental staff and oversee the implementation of tourism-related projects.
Foster partnerships with stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
Served in a relevant and comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years.
A Bachelor’s degree in either: Tourism, Tourism Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Eco-Tourism, Hotel and Institutional Management, Leisure and Hospitality Studies, International Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism Management, Hotel and Hospitality Management, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
