The role of the Chief Superintending Fire Officer is permanent and pensionable, operating within the Kitui County Government. This is a senior technical and administrative position responsible for overseeing all fire services and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards across government operations and public buildings within the County.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Chief Superintending Fire Officer will be responsible for:
- Coordination of Designs of Fire Services/Systems in Government Buildings and Construction Works.
- Enforcement of fire safety standards.
- Coordination of public sensitization, training and awareness programmes.
- Overseeing fire investigations.
- Inspection and Certification of Public Buildings for fire safety compliance.
- Advice on provision of adequate means of escape, firefighting, fire alarm, fire detection systems and other general fire precautions.
- Planning and budgeting for resources for disaster management.
- Monitoring the compliance of fire safety standards and identification of training needs and making recommendations.
- Supervision of staff working under him/her.
Requirements for Appointment
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Be a citizen of Kenya.
- Served in the grade of Senior Superintending Fire Officer or a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for at least three (3) years.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Electrical/ Mechanical/Chemical/ Mechatronics Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Be registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya.
- Possess a Current Valid Annual Practicing Licence from the Engineers’ Registration Board of Kenya.
- Corporate membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
- Must have attended a Project Development and Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution.
- Must have attended a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Must have attended a Strategic Leadership Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Possess a valid First Aid Certificate from St. John’s Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
- Demonstrated general administrative ability required for direction, control and implementation of fire services programmes.
