Our client, a fast-growing mid-sized freight forwarding company in Nairobi, is seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to take full operational responsibility, professionalize their processes, and drive their next phase of growth. The company specializes in air and sea cargo from key global hubs (e.g., Dubai, Guangzhou, London, Milan, Johannesburg, Istanbul, and Amsterdam). They move 80-100 tonnes of air freight monthly and one 40ft container daily, providing full end-to-end visibility from warehouse receipt through customs clearance to final delivery.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Departmental Leadership: Lead all 7 departments, including sales, customer service, transport, marketing, call center, warehouse, and operations.
- Growth & Profitability: Deliver 20% to 30% year-on-year revenue growth while optimizing profitability.
- Client Experience: Enhance client experience, focusing especially on faster resolutions of delays, breakages, and claims.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee air freight, sea containers, warehousing, transport, and customs clearance.
- Strategic Partnerships & Tech: Build strong global partnerships and implement technology for better tracking and efficiency.
Educational Qualifications & Career Experience
- Industry Experience: 10-15 years of experience in freight forwarding/logistics, with strong experience in air freight and containerized sea freight.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in executive leadership roles (e.g., GM, Director, CEO) with direct P&L responsibility.
- Track Record: Proven track record in client service excellence and operational improvement in logistics.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep knowledge of the Kenyan/East African regulatory environment (KRA, KPA, KEBS).
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field. An MBA or CILT/FIATA certification is an added advantage.
