The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) was established in 1958 as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with the overall objective of improving the quality of life of Persons with Disabilities through promoting Rehabilitation and Inclusion. APDK is seeking a dynamic and experienced visionary and compassionate leader with a proven track record of driving impact and mobilizing resources, and a passion for transforming the lives of people with disabilities.
As the most senior manager, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be the public face of APDK, responsible for strategic leadership, operational excellence, and ensuring the mission to empower people with disabilities is at the heart of everything the organization does. The CEO serves as the primary link between the Board of Directors and the organization's daily operations. This is a multi-faceted role that requires a strategic thinker, a skilled fundraiser, and a hands-on manager.

Key Responsibilities
The CEO will be responsible for:
- Strategic Leadership: Serving as a key advisor to the Board of Directors, formulating policies, and translating the organization's vision into actionable plans and programs.
- Operational Management: Through the departmental heads, overseeing all aspects of the organization, including administration, programs, finance, human resources, and facilities. Ensuring the prudent management of resources and adherence to all legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Fundraising & Resource Mobilization: Leading fundraising efforts, including identifying and cultivating relationships with donors, development partners, and philanthropic stakeholders. Responsible for setting and achieving annual income goals to ensure the financial sustainability of APDK.
- Public Relations & Advocacy: Acting as the primary external representative of APDK, maintaining a strong and positive public image. Engaging with government representatives, the media, and the wider community to advocate for the rights and welfare of people with disabilities.
- Team Leadership: Inspiring and managing a senior leadership team and staff across the national office and branch network. Fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and compassion.
- Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with other NGOs, businesses, and government entities.
- Ensuring the organization's mission and values are consistently upheld.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A Master’s degree in Business Management, Strategic Management, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- A technical degree in a relevant industry is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of senior leadership experience, preferably in a Director or Vice President role.
- Vast experience in fundraising, including securing and managing grants, donations, and major gifts.
- Proven proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and fiscal oversight.
- Exceptional communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- A proven ability to build and maintain a spotless personal reputation and act as a representative of the organization at all times.
- Direct experience working with or for people with disabilities is highly desirable.
