Chief Driver - 4 Posts

The County Government of Kitui is recruiting for four (4) positions of Chief Driver, offered under Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service. The position is compensated on the Salary Scale: Ksh. 26,900 to Ksh. 35,380 per month.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

• Driving the assigned vehicle.
• Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, tyre pressure, and brake systems, among others.
• Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems.
• Maintenance of work ticket(s) for vehicle(s) assigned.
• Ensuring safety and security of the vehicle on and off the road.
• Overseeing safety of the passengers and/or goods therein.
• Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must meet the following prerequisites, in addition to holding a KCSE qualification:

1. Be a Citizen of Kenya.
2. Must have served in the grade of Senior Driver for a minimum period of three (3) years.
3. Passed Occupational Trade Test I for drivers.
4. Possess a valid driving licence free from any current endorsement(s) for the class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive.
5. Hold a Defensive Driving Certificate from Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
6. Must have attended a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than One (1) week within every three (3) years from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
7. Possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police.
8. Must have attended a First – Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution.
9. Demonstrate outstanding professional competence and integrity in work performance and results.
