Tenwek Hospital is seeking a Cath Lab Radiology Technician to assist cardiologists in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures. The successful candidate will provide quality patient care in line with CTC policies and hospital regulations, ensuring a compassionate and professional environment for all patients.
Responsibilities
Perform preoperative and postoperative assessments including measuring blood pressure, temperature, and blood glucose levels, and administering medications as ordered.
Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, and spiritual status in a comprehensive manner using age-specific data.
Prepare patients thoroughly for procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
Perform cardiac catheterizations, angiograms, and other cardiovascular imaging procedures with precision.
Operate and maintain fluoroscopy machines, digital imaging systems, and other specialized Cardiac Cath Lab equipment.
Maintain proper temperatures of solutions used in examinations.
Document ongoing assessments including observation, physical examination, and laboratory/test results.
Monitor vital signs and administer medications as directed during procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort.
Participate in multidisciplinary care planning to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Adhere to radiation safety and infection control protocols, enforcing strict radiation protection policies.
Coordinate and document appropriate discharge planning and referral to ensure continuity of care.
Provide health teaching and counseling to individuals, families, and the community.
Stay updated on advancements in cardiac imaging technology through ongoing education and training.
Identify research topics and carry out surveys at the operational level.
Requirements
Education: Diploma in Imaging Sciences or a related field from a recognized institution.
Professional Certification: Certified in Cath Lab or equivalent.
Membership: Must be a member of the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority (KNRA).
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in cardiovascular imaging and cardiac catheterization, preferably in a Cath Lab environment.
