The role of Carpenter I at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) involves performing various carpentry tasks related to the construction, maintenance, repair, and modification of the University's buildings and facilities. This position requires quality workmanship and strict adherence to safety protocols.
Job Responsibilities
Performs and completes a variety of carpentry tasks with quality workmanship to construct, maintain, repair, or modify buildings or facilities.
Participate in the execution of routine maintenance schedules for carpentry on campus.
Maintain and improve the integrity of the Campus's buildings and facilities.
Safely and efficiently operates a variety of power and hand tools to complete jobs accurately and to specifications: such tools may include hammers, saws, drills, planers and mortising machines.
Follows standard safety precautions, adheres to instructions when using power tools, wears recommended protective equipment such as goggles, hearing protectors and/or work gloves.
Regular checking of University furniture and report any defect for repair.
Maintain a schedule of regular blocks visiting.
Maintain the workshop and have an inventory of the carpentry equipment.
Performs spot checks on equipment to ensure proper working conditions, services tools and equipment as needed and return damaged items for repair or replacement.
Job Qualifications and Minimum Requirements
At least two (2) years working experience in a similar position.
Certificate in Carpentry.
Knowledge in Welding and Metal Fabrication will be an added advantage.
