Amentum is seeking a Cable and Antenna Systems Specialist to manage the maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of antenna systems and associated hardware. This role involves critical operations on high frequency (HF) and very high-frequency (VHF) systems, often requiring work at heights on antenna structures. The successful candidate will ensure systems are efficient, effective, and compliant with all safety standards, particularly regarding Radio Frequency (RF) hazards.
Job Responsibilities
Maintenance & Installation: Perform routine and emergency maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of antenna systems and associated hardware.
System Expertise: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on various antenna types, including high frequency (HF) and very high-frequency (VHF) systems.
Tower Work: Work aloft on antenna structures, ensuring strict compliance with safety protocols and standards.
Equipment Operation: Use specialized erection equipment and tools to assemble, install, and repair antenna systems and outside plant equipment.
Troubleshooting: Perform repairs on damaged or non-functional components, such as cables, reflectors, waveguides, and other related equipment.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to standard safety procedures and best practices for handling Radio Frequency (RF) systems and hazards, including RF Radiation Hazard guidelines.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair tasks and submit detailed technical reports upon job completion.
Training: Participate in and potentially conduct RF hazard/safety training as required.
Resource Management: Evaluate and recommend procurement for materials and tools necessary for system setup and maintenance.
Coordination: Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient delivery of maintenance services.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in maintaining and working on antennas and associated components.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (KCSE).
Technical Skills: Proven experience or aptitude in operating erection equipment and utilizing tools associated with antenna systems; working knowledge of outside plant equipment.
Travel & Logistics: Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least one year at the time of hiring) and be willing to travel internationally.
Physical Fitness: Must be medically fit for antenna maintenance tasks, specifically working aloft on antenna structures, and able to pass contract medical requirements.
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain required facility credentials and authorizations.
