The role of the Business Development – Senior Associate involves leading and implementing firm-wide business development strategies, particularly within the professional services sector (preferably legal). This position, operating within the framework of CM Advocates’ strategic goals, requires a proactive professional capable of managing complex pitches, bids, tenders, and proposals, cultivating strong client relationships, and providing strategic guidance to senior stakeholders, including partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement firm-wide business development strategies aligned with CM Advocates’ strategic goals.
- Prepare and manage pitches, bids, tenders, and proposals for new business opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, including partners.
- Provide coaching and guidance to partners on business development, client engagement, and market positioning.
- Mentor and support junior BD staff to enhance team performance and capability.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing team to design campaigns and client communications that support BD objectives.
- Monitor and report on BD performance metrics and market trends to senior management.
- Support budget management and resource allocation for business development initiatives.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Professional services experience, preferably within a legal environment.
- Proven experience in business development, client relationship management, and tender/bid processes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working closely with senior partners or executives.
- Ability to coach and influence senior professionals on business development strategies.
- Experience managing or mentoring a small team is desirable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the Kenyan legal market and regulatory environment is an advantage.
