And Beyond is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant for Suyian Lodge. The role involves ensuring the accurate recording and management of financial information across business units, maintaining high financial standards, mentoring accounting staff, ensuring compliance, and performing general ledger reconciliations and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Accurate recording and management of financial information for all business units at Suyian Lodge.
Maintaining and improving high financial standards and discipline.
Management, mentorship, and training of account clerks.
Meeting finance deadlines and training staff from various backgrounds and skill levels.
Collation and resolution of general ledger queries and assisting the Lodge Finance Controller on general queries.
Reconciling various accounts including clearing accounts and inter-lodge transactions.
Interpretation and analysis of management accounts.
Participating in monthly finance meetings with the financial controller to discuss financial performance where applicable.
Ensuring correct authorization and allocation of business expenditure.
Maintaining stock control procedures and assisting with stock counts.
Assisting in monitoring controls within the lodges and conducting internal audits.
Participating in the development and implementation of systems and procedures.
Assisting in compiling budgets and quarterly re-forecasts.
Assisting all staff with the Panstrat system.
Reviewing and ensuring compliance with Front of House systems.
Assisting with year-end audit, reviewing, and reporting capex spend against budget.
Collation and accuracy of Sustainability Stats and compilation of sustainability statistics.
Coordinating with Government agencies on the renewal of all camp operating licenses.
Implementing and maintaining financial systems, processes, and procedures ensuring accurate data extraction.
Monitoring vehicle fleet performance through statistical reporting.
Processing local financial transactions (AP & AR) at the lodge in compliance with group financial policies.
Reconciling local supplier statements to the general ledger.
Loading and reviewing all local creditors' payments.
Preparing and submitting weekly cash flow requirements to Nairobi.
Checking and approving all cheque payment vouchers emanating from the camp.
Managing payments via M-pesa platform in conformity with laid down procedures.
Ensuring statutory audits (NEMA, Health & Safety, Fire, Motor Inspections, Public Health, Airstrip Inspections, Eco Tourism) are conducted as due.
Compiling monthly payroll input schedules ensuring compliance with the Employment Act and Union collective bargaining agreements.
Approving and checking local orders prior to General Manager authorization.
Ensuring optimal operation of the camp IT system and reporting failures to IT department.
Compiling monthly leave/off schedules and physical stock count schedules.

Requirements & Skills
CPA III certification.
Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Completion of an Excel assessment upon interview.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting and inventory management.
