Role Overview
The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all agricultural field activities within the assigned area. This includes ensuring operations align with production targets, crop calendars, and stringent quality standards required for export markets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all field activities within the assigned area, including planting, weeding, irrigation, crop protection, harvesting, and general maintenance.
- Prepare and implement daily, weekly, and monthly work plans in alignment with production targets and crop calendars.
- Conduct routine field inspections to monitor crop performance, field conditions, and labour productivity.
- Ensure all agronomic practices meet company and export quality standards (Global G.A.P., MRL compliance, hygiene, and traceability).
- Ensure proper implementation of environmental, health, and safety protocols across the area.
- Submit daily and weekly area progress reports to the Production Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of labour utilization, inputs, yields, and field performance reports.
- Identify and report pest, disease, and nutritional issues promptly and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure good labour relation with employees.
- Submit all procurement requests to the Farm Manager for approval after approval to procurement.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a BA/BSc/HND qualification. Given the managerial and technical responsibilities, substantial prior experience in agricultural operations, particularly in managing field activities and ensuring compliance with export standards, is required.
