Working under the guidance of an operation leader or a more senior banker, the Analyst contributes to all aspects of project structuring, execution, and portfolio monitoring. This role involves comprehensive research, financial analysis, and the evaluation of potential risks for proposed projects, ensuring they align with the Bank's policies and objectives. The Analyst progressively undertakes more complex tasks to build expertise in banking transactions and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities
Structuring and Execution
Work as a project team member on transactions, contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution, including comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data.
Analyse and evaluate potential risks related to the proposed project, including analysis of financial statements, preparing and updating financial models and financial projections.
Assist with the designing and processing of technical co-operation assistance, including preparation of terms of reference and internal approval documentation, to support the related investment projects.
Assist with communication with other internal units of the Bank, clients, and other stakeholders at the operational level, such as preparing draft correspondence and presentations.
Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within specified time frames to a high quality and in line with Bank policies.
Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation and Reporting
Undertake assigned tasks relating to the implementation and monitoring of projects, including compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures related to disbursement.
Monitor progress of the project and financial performance of the client, assessing evolving risk factors and monitoring covenant compliance.
Prepare timely and comprehensive draft monitoring reports and include recommendations for corrective actions where required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience in the areas of expertise.
Professional Certifications: Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Critical quantitative and numerical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and design/use financial models.
Credit Analysis: Strong credit analysis skills, including the ability to interpret accounts and understand local and international accounting principles.
Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages, including financial analysis and modelling modules.
Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Proficiency in the local language is an advantage.
Soft Skills: Ability to work effectively as a team member under time pressure and meet strict deadlines.
