BasiGo is an e-mobility start-up looking to revolutionize the public transportation sector by providing public transport bus owners with a cost-effective electric alternative to diesel. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, our team is strategically composed of seasoned entrepreneurs who have spent over a decade working and innovating within electric vehicle technology.
This Accounts Intern role is designed to provide essential support to the finance team by handling daily accounting functions, supporting payables and receivables, and assisting with month-end reporting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Daily Accounting Support:
- Assist in processing & posting various accounting transactions, including journal entries, bank deposits, payments, and reimbursements.
- Maintain and update accounting records, files, and documentation.
- Support the accounts team in ad-hoc administrative tasks.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Support in timely and accurate booking of vendor invoices.
- Support payment processing through the preparation of the payment file.
- Assist with collecting and filing new-hire documentation.
- Support the receivables team in daily customer billing and deposit confirmation.
Month-End Reporting:
- Assist in regular and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Support the team in timely month-end reporting by assisting with other account reconciliations and schedules.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- A recent graduate in Finance, Accounting, or other business-related fields (BA/BSc/HND).
Experience:
- Internship or volunteer experience in an accounting or finance role.
Required Skills:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to notice discrepancies in data.
- A proactive approach to work, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and maintaining a high-quality standard when working under time pressure.
- Excited to learn & not scared of asking questions.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with accounting software.
- Should have completed or be currently pursuing an Accounting certification, i.e., CPA.
