Accountant II

The role of Accountant II supports the efficient and effective functioning of the County Assembly, pursuant to Section 12 of the County Government Act 2012, which mandates the County Assembly Service Board to provide services and facilities to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the County Assembly. This position is vital for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Accountant II will perform the following core duties:

• Responsible for preparation and verification of vouchers in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations involving primary data entry and routine accounting work such as balancing of cashbooks, imprest and advances ledgers.
• Responsible for safe custody of records and assets under him/her.
• Preparing and verifying vouchers for payments.
• Ensuring financial reports and records are properly maintained.
• Preparing tax returns and ensuring prompt payment.
• Maintaining and reconciling accounts receivable and payables.
• Maintain and update ledger accounts by vote heads.
• Preparing reconciliation for cash book and bank statements.
• Preparing and maintaining proper fixed asset register.
• Assisting with documenting accounting processes to be included in the accounts manual.

Job Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor degree in any the following discipline: commerce, finance, economics, business administration/business management or any other equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in computer application.
• 3 years work experience in the relevant field.

Remuneration

• To be pegged at minimum Basic pay of Job Group "J" - Kshs. 32,700.
