Kibabii University is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Accountant I. This role is essential for the university's financial management, requiring a candidate who can maintain high standards of financial accuracy and integrity. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing advanced accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with institutional and national financial regulations, and contributing to the efficient operation of the finance department.
Responsibilities
While specific duties are governed by the university's internal grading system, the role typically involves:
Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers.
Assisting in the preparation of budget estimates and financial reports.
Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and financial regulations.
Monitoring expenditures and processing payments.
Reconciling bank statements and financial accounts.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
A Master's degree in any of the following disciplines: Business Administration (Finance or Accounting option) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting or Finance option), or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Served in the relevant grade (as per university grading systems).
Passed CPA III / ACCA III from a recognized institution.
A Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., ICPAK).
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
