This Accountant role contributes directly to VVOB's mission and values by taking the necessary initiative to ensure the high-quality management of financial resources at the VVOB country office. This role is essential for maintaining financial integrity and compliance, specifically supporting VVOB Kenya and the African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL).
Position in the Organisation
- The Accountant reports directly to the Operations Manager.
- You are an integral part of the operations and finance unit, collaborating closely with direct colleagues in the finance team.
- Furthermore, you will work closely together with all other departments within the country office and the finance department at HQ (or with other country teams).
- Specifically, you are part of and work closely together with members of the operations team in VVOB Kenya and the African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL).
Result Areas (Key Responsibilities)
- Review all payment processes meticulously on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Ensure the proper and timely updating of the accounting system (Navision) and guarantee the timely collection of high-quality accounting documentation according to the latest financial guidelines.
- Review all procurement processes for all programmes and projects to ensure accuracy in the use of budget lines and account codes, adherence to donor compliance, and fulfillment of reporting requirements.
- Proactively provide information and support to the program team and relevant partners to improve the accounting system and to develop their capacity in the field of accounting and related requirements.
- Coordinate and supervise the compliance and correct implementation of financial guidelines and procedures.
- Facilitate the continuous improvement of VVOB’s financial and accounting processes and promote knowledge sharing.
- Be responsible for informing the management on the status of the accounting system, including critical issues, and identify areas for improvement in the accounting system and processes.
- Examine and analyse financial records, and prepare financial reports.
